Avid Interface

Is the Avid interface the same across all it's products?

At school we use Avid Express Pro... which I felt like kicking.. I hated the interface... but it may have just been the shitty school environment.. so I am downloading the Avid Free DV software in hopes that the interface is similar or the same Express Pro...

I am attempting to teach myself Avid.. just to round out my knowledge of the NLE should I ever have to use it in a work environment..

Are they all the same? or does each version differ slightly UI wise? I am aware each version has extra features etc etc... but the main things are all the same correct?

I was told by an Avid trainer that the software for Express Pro and Adrenaline are identical minus Marquee and the Paint feature.

If you can work on one avid, you can work on them all.
If you have Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.0, you also have the Marquee tool.

well, DS is a bit different but unless diving deep into effects, most avid-savvy editors can hit the ground running on it.
