Avid edits 30p?

Hi.
I'll be shooting for a documentary (lot of footage) where I'm planning 5D only.
Editing will be on Avid (don't know now if MC or better. Also I only know FCP).

Anybody knows if Avid can ingest 5d h264 and transcode to higher quality codec, like DNxHD, retaining 30p cadence?
I'd like editor/director to edit 30p and transcode only final sequence (via optical flow) to 25p.

I've only been trialling short clips, but so far I've had no problems ingesting 30p into a 59.97i timeline in MC 3.
One thing though, as others have found you get the "full" 0-255 luminance range.
Others may know more, but I think Avid is in a minority when it comes to editing 5DII footage.
Have you tried posting on the Avid forums at www.avid.com ? You'll get a more upmarket answer there.
