Avid editing for PAL users

Thought I'd start a thread for us PC Avid users using the HVX200 rather keen on finding out when and how we edit DVCProHD 720 25p and 720 25pn with Avid.

As far as I'm aware we can edit DVCPro, DVCPro50 and DVCPro HD 1080i (which I suspect means 1080p is supported seeing as it's an interlaced format - correct me if I'm wrong).

So anyone know any info on whether Avid are working on an update to allow 720p and 720pn?

Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong section, but there's a FCP thread below and this is merely an Avid version of that.

I put a few messsages on the avid xpress pro hd forum last week and was told to wait until NAB. One of the moderators hinted that he knew what was going to be announced and for worriers to relax, but he was sworn to secrecy(my words).

I was told that Avid are well aware of the problem and are working on it.

When is NAB?

the unique selling point of this cam next to P2 is the 720/50 and Panasonic cannot provide us with editors.......

This is a very good sign for Avid users... But I would be pretty p#ssed off if Apple didn't come with the same solution in the next upgrade, since I invested a ton of money in my Final Cut Studio workstation! (I don't like Avid's interface, but probably will have to convert if it is the only solution...It works on mac, doesn't it?)

Raylight supports 720-25P native right now with version 1.05.

Actually, it works on mac, but as far as I know, Version 4.8 is the latest for the Mac and there is no HD Option in it, right at the moment.
There are rumors that the next release for the Mac will catch up with the PC Version (maybe at NAB) but I don´t have any information when this will be (release dates were delayed over and over again in the past).

I think, FCP is the better option for the mac - Avid seems to be concentrated more and more on PC. I know there were times, it was the other way around.

Best regards
Jan

Yes, I actually learned Avid at Uni on Macs in the late 90's. I have to say I think it's better on the PC. Don't know exactly why but it just feels more comfortable.

Nab is end of April isn't it?
