Avid DV Codec

Using Avid DV Pro v4.6 exporting 24p projects to DVD via Send To>DVD>Quicktime reference , i noticed there's a setting (checkbox) in the quick time reference settings for using the Avid DV codec. What is this and should I use it?

It is just what it says. Avid's implementation of the DV codec. As a general rule of thumb I do not use it unless I'm exporting the footage specifically to import it into another Avid. Then it gives you the advantage of being able to import footage very quickly.
