avid composer display

hi guys, I have a question...
when i work in avid I have my timeline and press play I see my clip darker and a little bit washed out....

when its on pause/stop its much brighter and a little bit sharper, and when I export the clip at the end and play it back with quicktime it is much much sharper and brighter then in avid.

how come? it always has been like that since I started on avid xpress, is there any explanation for this or how I can change this?

because color correcting it really does not help if even the quicktime file is much brighter
thx me

Re: avid composer display

This is not an Avid problem but the graphics card and the overlay. There is an Avid Tech document I posted on my website at:
http://www.24p.com/downloads/ATB024.pdf

But in the end, you should be sure to be correcting to a properly callibrated client monitor (NTSC) in addition to a properly calibrated computer monitor. Even when not playing, is it properly set?

Re: avid composer display

not really since I dont have an output monitor jet :(
is there any other way of calibrating the computer monitor somehow?
btw thx for the pdf file, its already much better exept when I export it into quicktime its a little bit darker now, hmm.

Re: avid composer display

micheal thanks for the advice, ill look forward in buying one soon,
btw since I made the settings all at sudden if I try 2 resize the color correction composer, it collapses and doesnt show me the video anymore.. any clue? I have to reload the cc settings every time but cant scale it up anymore :(

Re: avid composer display

That's a known bug that we are working on and I agree that it's a pain in the ass. Right now it's sort of like the joke where the patient says "it hurts when I laugh" and the docter responds p "then don't laugh...". Meaning - do't resize the window! ;)
