Avid Announces !

NAB 2005

What ? Bupkiss?

Forget the Adrenalin, Nitris other high end announcements. They're beyond me.

Avid announced for use (low-mid end users) - Avid Studio HD (for PC only?).

When I looked at the new Apple Studio, with SoundtrackPro, you can edit realtime
audio and video tracks. No transfering files back and forth between the two programs.
Am I misunderstanding something, or is this the transparency that many believed would happen when Avid bought Digidesign ?

I too thought Avid's NAB offerings were a little sparse this year.

As far as your Avid ProTools integration question, I really can't speak to it. I've never used the Apple software, and whereas the integration of Avid and ProTools could be improved it works pretty well for me.

They seemed to be sitting this out out this year.
Nitris looked good as always. Not much new. Symphony Nitris was intoduced. They should have waited until it was ready, though. Not that it'd matter at it's price point.
Their big shove seemed to be the tapeless aquisition goodies.
I gave this a whirl in the mid 90s when they teamed up with Thomson (again, something that wasn't ready yet) but this shows much promise.
We'll certainly laugh at days we had to digitize/capture one day just like we'll laugh at the days when we had to render.
