Avid and the Digi 001? Friendly?

Is Avid Xpress pro HD compatible with the Digi 001? They seem to be going for pennies used and I am currently having issues with sound on my Avid system (motherboard soundcard's right channel went out, replaced with a Soundblaster but I have to disable the soundcard in order to capture due to dropped frames then close Avid and restart with the card enabled) I would really like to get protools for audio post after taking a class on it and was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Digi 001 and Avid. According to the info on Digidesigns website on the digi 001, Avid Xpress pro is optional software for it. But I have been told that the m-box's will not play audio from Avid? Any insight would be very much appreciated!

I seem to have read somewhere that Xpress Pro HD and Pro tools cannot and would not run on the same system for some reason.

Might be a dongle or incompatible drivers issue.

I think there's a way to work around this but I'm not sure.

I know in some cases you have to install Protools after Avid or there will be complications (or maybe vice versa) but protools and Avid Should work on the same system (at least you would think) because they do sell the big Avid package with the Digi 002 and I wouldn't think they would do that if incompatable. But it looks like I am just gonna save my pennies for the Digi 002 because you can use its control surface in Avid and that sounds pretty usefull, especially the faders.
