Avid 4.7 on the horizon

Re: Avid 4.7 on the horizon

The end of this month will release v.5.0 for Windows with the Mac coming in a future release. There may be a 4.6.x release depending on issues in the field.

Re: Avid 4.7 on the horizon

There could be a 4.6.x release that is a free maintenance update, but 5.0 will be a purchasable upgrade. Details due out this week to the public... (DV Expo).

Hey, I'll be at the DV Expo on the 9th. Will you be there?

Re: Avid 4.7 on the horizon

No, I decided to stay in the cold New England area... ask them to demo the 23.976 features in Xpress Pro 5.0... (output with2:3 with no Mojo required...)

Re: Avid 4.7 on the horizon

I'm originally from the Lawrence/Methuen area so I know exactly what you mean. :)

I'll certainly check out AXP v5.0. I already have Mojo so we'll see what new features it has. Sounds like great news for non-Mojo owners though!

Is there more to say about the new features in v5.0?
I like to hear them. :D

Version 5.0 Planned for December

High definition comes to Avid Xpress Pro in version 5.0 with support for native HD formats

such as DVCPRO HD as well as the revolutionary mastering-quality of Avid DNxHD

technology.

Performance also increases with this release. Version 5.0 supports editing and play back of

up to four screens of real-time multicamera and output of real time effects without Avid

Mojo (more real-time streams with Avid Mojo acceleration !).

Avid Xpress Pro’s versatility is demonstrated in its ability to work with DV25, DV50, DVCPRO

100 as well as film-based productions.

Summary of added Features in Version 5.0:

• Support for DVCPRO HD acquisition and editing

• Avid DNxHD editing and rendering

• DVCPRO 50 support (IEEE 1394 capture/output)

• Real-time multicamera for SD and HD – now edits can be performed “on the fly,” with

up to four sources continuously updated. Any supported resolution in Avid Xpress Pro

is available for use in multicamera editing, including HD resolutions. Performance will,

of course, vary depending on which resolutions are chosen, host computer power,

etc.

• 10-bit SD editing

• Avid Marquee® now included for 10-bit titling, as well as more complete compatible

workflows with other Avid systems

• Expanded film support

• AVX 2.0 enables 16-bit rendering, maintaining the highest quality image possible.

Further details regarding Xpress Pro 5.0 will be provided in a forthcoming Reseller Update

including upgrade pricing. Initially,

Avid Xpress Pro v5.0 will be supported on Windows XPbased systems only.

A corresponding Mac release is planned for 2005.

Avid Xpress Pro v4.6 will continue to ship for Mac-based customers
