Avid 3.5 - pan scan

Can I do a "Ken Burns" pan and scan move on oversized graphics ?

I've got v3.5 btw.

Whenever I import a still image -- I can't seem to be able to import a graphic that's bigger than the 720x480 frame (at whatever still graphic import setting). The jpgs I am trying to import are bigger than that (8x10 and still photos) and are scanned appropriately.

Does 3.5 not have that ability? or, hopefully what am I missing ?

You need to use the Pan & Zoom effect. Cut the 720x486 version into the timeline, add the pan & zoom to the element - then go to effects mode and take it from there. Within the effect you will be able to navigate to the large resolution file. Read the online help or user guide for more information.

Thanks Michael for the info--

I checked avid.com and read more about pan and zoom -- seems I've got to upgrade and register to be able to download the avx plugin.

Until I can afford the upgrade -- I'll have to stick it out with After Effects.
