MichaelP,

Any chance you can give us some hints as to what AVID may be announcing/showing/shipping at NAB 2006 in regard to the product line? :)

The universal release is on the engineering schedule, but most likely will ship after the first mac parity release. We also want to make sure the code works for desktop systems which are not out yet...

OK another small thing...,

The color shift between play and stop no longer occurs...

Michael

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did that happen in the first place? And which one is indicative of the export, the play or the stop colors?

It was caused by the video overlay on the graphics card for moving video versus the standard display. The change is no longer using the overlay for the moving images. That's the easy explanation.

Thanks for the updates Michael (we won't tell). I am holding onto my Cinewave SDI BOB in case Avid starts a trade in program for the new mojo announced at NAB. ... is any of this really going to happen (that would be a - no, no or no, yes or finally the best option: yes, yes.

Just a 1, 2, or 3 reply and I am all hush, hush...

Hey....how about 720p/24pN .mxf file support in the Avid xpress HD?? Avid advertises support for DVCproHD, but it is not entirely there...I have a client who wants to hire me to shoot 720p/24pN footage to edit on his xpressHD system.....but we cannot edit the .mxf files natively. What to do, what to do?

Not if I want to keep my job.... ;)

Michael must feel the love from this group, since we're so worried about him keeping his job that we keep pressing the point. :embarasse :lipsrseal

Nah, it's fun. I think this is a great group that understands that technology changes so fast that it is difficult to keep up from a manufacturer's point of view (cameras, formats, operating systems, etc.) as well as the end user staying educated. I also learn so much form these forums. But communication is key to everyone learning.

As far as 720/24pN, it is supported now and have been using it for several months. Copy files to the MXF folder on the storage drive, create a 720p/23.976 project, go to the MediaTool and drag those clips into your bin. Edit away.

Having HD-SDI (and even regular SDI for SD) available for Express Studio HD would be a nice new feature. That would keep parity with FCP and their Blackmagic integration. Even getting Blackmagic certified for Express Pro on the Mac side would be very sweet. But unlikely.

Oh my gosh, I just got a preview of all the new avid releases at nab, check this out.

First, the Avid M....... Sh...... and the more....... sh....re......bu.........ah..........th..........as............HVX200!!!!!!
