AVCHD/Log and Transfer Problem

Hi,
I'm working with a Sony HD camera with AVCHD. I have the most recent Mac OS and FCP7. When I go to use Log and Transfer with the camera no files appear when the camera is connected. I know the computer detects the camera because another program opens to download the SD and pictures. Any help?
 
Which model of the Sony?

Which Mac are you using?

Have you established a custom path to the mounted cam with the PRIVATE folder?

Do you have Perian installed?
 
I have a sony XR500V and a macbook pro.

What do you mean in the 3rd question?

I do not believe I have Perian.
