AVCHD from AF100...how can client view WITH timecode without FCP on Mac or PC?

through the LCD/viewfinder.

Not to sound like a smartass- but I can't think how you would if not through an NLE. Doesn't Panasonic make a AVCHD viewer software that can play back files somewhere?

Barry, thanks for the only coherent hypothesis. As it turns out, the AVCCAM Importer plug-in was the solution. I had to navigate down to the .mts files and "open with" QT Pro.

(I experimented with AVCCAM Viewer, but that is convoluted software like P2CMS - I have used P2CMS for years to transfer P2 data and still do as if it isn't broke, don't fix it! Out of superstition too!)

Anyway, my client can buy QT Pro for $30, and pick interview sound bites "off line" and eliminate the window burn / transcode process saving hours of computer time! I haven't tested this on a PC but I suppose that'd work too.

Thanks a lot dvxuser and thanks Barry!Time Code Solution Quicktime Pro + ACCCAM Importer Plug In.jpg

Not the OP, but I would imagine it would be for the client to mark segments he wanted to use. I'm guessing this is from some sort of event taping.

Glad to help! And hopefully this will prove useful to others in the same situation. Thanks for letting us know it worked out for you.
