AVCHD Foler from AF-100 - No Thumbnails

I've successfully tranferred files from the AF-100 to a Windows 7 hard drive. I can see the thumbnails. But when I make a backup copy of the entire folder from the hard drive to another drive, the thumbnails don't show. I've searched for a solution, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Of course, I could copy the material from the camera again. But procedurally, I want to be able to make copies of material from drive to drive and have it work.
 
There are no thumbnails in the AVCHD folder. It's up to the particular version of windows to know how to interpret and create an icon from a .MTS file. You cannot guarantee that it will work with every computer you go to because on each computer it has to know how to make an icon. I think Windows 7 should be able to do it universally; I know I had to download a plug-in to make Windows XP know how to make an icon.
 
Correction - It now appears that any AVCHD files on my PC created after some date do not show the thumbnails. Folders created earlier show thumbnails, while later folders don't. So I've done something to cause this to happen.
