AVCHD file naming

I'm a newer GH13 user, and I'm trying to figure out how to best deal with the GH1 avchd file names not being chronological. Is there a utility that uses the extra playlist or inf files to import and rename the clips to actual chronological shooting order? Or, is there a shooting technique to minimize or avoid the problem? I've been shooting my kid's sporting events, with a lot of short clips, and occasionally there are some clips whose sequential filenames do not match the actual chronological sequence. It can be very difficult to figure out the proper sequence without previewing the clips in the camera and manually renaming. I appologize if this has been covered in some other threads, but my searches haven't yielded any answers.

hmmm- I've never noticed that, it's been my experience (4xGH-13's) that the clips are always named and organized in ascending order. clip 1, clip2, and so on....oh wait a minute..are you on a PC? editing in Premier or something, (editing native)....b/c then I wouldn't know, I'm thinking after L&T in FCP

I'm using a pc, and importing using either Premier Elements, or directly copying using Windows explorer, but I've seen several examples of where the mts filename sequence is not chronological. Maybe it has to do with buffering, and when clips are actually written to the card? But Phil's import utility references the actual file creation time (which is stored in the cpi, clipinfo files), and it renames the files with the creation time so they can be sorted chronological.
