where do i get the download for the AVCHD codec to use the AF 100 with Final Cut Pro?

on my lap top i have FCP on my imac i have FCP 7. I just tried importing into my laptop without any AVCHD codec. it was 2 mins worth of video. I saw it went into FCP but the file data size was 2gb and it was Apple Pro Res... did this happen because the AVCHD codec hasn't been downloaded and installed?

Ok .. if you go to the Log and Transfer window .. and click n the "gear" icon (on the top of the window)
and choose "Preferences", do you see the AVCHD plugin?

If so, what's the AVCHD plugin choice? (which ProRes)?

i see a box that says AVCHD Plug In underneath it says AVCHD and to the right under transcode it says Apple Pro res 422.
above that there is another option that says P2 AVCH Intra codec and to the right of that it says transcode to Apple Pro res 422

I think you're good man .. I have similar clips from the AF100 .. approx 2 minutes in length and they are
1.8 to 2.2 GB.

If you wanna reduce the size, you can choose the LT setting (without much loss in quality).

Are you interested in the Panasonic plug in that lets you edit AVCHD native? If so I would avoid it. Crashes a lot. Transcoding to ProRes 422 or LT is still the best way with FCP7.
