Those of you editing in Adobe...I am considering leaving P2 behind but love how it behaves in Premiere. How does the AF100's AVCCAM compare at 24 and 60 FPS in CS4-5?
It works very similarly as P2 does, but with the understanding that you really need an nVidia CUDA graphics card to get realtime performance out of it. P2/DVCPRO-HD is incredibly simple to edit on just about any modern computer, h.264/AVCHD is much more computation-intensive, and CS5 uses the graphics card to turn it into a fairly effortless realtime process (at least for cuts-only editing). If your graphics card isn't on the approved list, you can "hack" premiere by editing a text file to add the name of your card to the list (that's what I had to do). And after that, it really works pretty well. I think DVCPRO-HD edits smoother from P2 than AVCCAM does, and you definitely don't want to be editing straight from the SDHC cards as the hard drive makes everything more responsive, but it's really pretty smooth.
So long as you update your nVidia driver, and you have an up to date cs4 (dot upgrade) premiere platform going then there is no problem. I have yet to upgrade to cs5, but the intermediary cs4 upgrades seem to be working fine for me.
