AVC Intra Varicam vs 371

Why is it that my Macbook Pro will play my HPX2700 AVC Intra 100 no problem but the shots from the HPX371 in AVC 100 are slow and jerky?
I assumed that as it's the same codec and data rate they should play the same?
Anything obvious that I'm missing?

OK, think I may have answered my own question!
Looking at the data rate in FCP it says the Varicam stuff is 6.8 MB/s while the 371 is 13.5 MB/s. This is the extra resolution then presumably, and if I shot the Varicam at 720/50P instead of 25PN it would also be 13.5 MB/s?

I would have thought the max data rate for AVCI would be less than 13MB no matter what you shot at. Unless AVCI-100 is just a marketing name.
 
Come on, just do the mat.

13.5 megabytes per second, times 8 bits per byte, = 108 megabits per second. AVCI-100 is 100 megabits.
