AVC Intra, Sequence Settings Question

Hello, question for anyone that can help. I recently shot a project with the HPX 300 using AVC_Intra 100, shooting in 720p.

So....I've been logging and transferring footage into Final Cut Studio. I understand that Final Cut doesn't have a AVC Intra easy-setup selection and I've read where users suggest using Apple Pro-Res as a workaround selection. I did that.

When I drag clips onto my timeline I'm getting the following message:

Attention this clip does not match this sequence's settings or any of your sequence presets. For best performance your sequence & external video should be set to the format of your clips you are editing. Change sequence settings to match the clip settings?

I'm looking at the item properties of my clip....1280x720, video rate 29.97. I'm looking at the item properties of my sequence...the exact same. Am i getting that message just because the compressor is different? AVC Intra for the clips, Apple Pro Res for the sequence?

Thank you.

7.0.2. So I should see AVC Intra in easy setup then and I shouldnt have to change sequence settings to Apple Pro Res? Sorry...I'm confused.

Open Log and Transfer and navigate to your AVCIntra p2 volume folder.

In preferences, you'll see "p2 plug in/p2 AVC- intra native" as a choice.

Ingest, drag to timeline and let FCP match sequence to settings and you'll get a prores 422HQ sequence setting.

AVCIntra in FCP is just a decoder, but it ingests natively. If you go to the raw clip in your scratch folder it will be identified as:

Apple AVC-Intra 100M 1080p24/p30, 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Center

when opened in the QTPro Player.

does that help?

David, thanks for your help. I didn't know about the Preferences step selecting AVC Intra native, so I hadn't done that when I originally ingested the footage... However, I had already made my sequence a Pro Res 422HQ sequence. So, I think I should be fine. In both instances the way you described and what I encountered you still have to let FCP match the sequence.

I just didn't know if I was doing anything wrong with Final Cut saying it had to match the sequence setting.

Yeah, the clip plays fine in the scratch thru Quicktime. I shot in 720p so mine reads
Dimension 1280x720
Apple AVC-Intra, Integer (Little Endian)
