HPX250: AVC-Intra 50 vs. AVCCAM?

Very close to adding another camera soon, at least within the next year. Have an AF100 and HVX200, and like a little bit of each. Currently weighing the HPX250 against the AC160.

I have about 128GB of P2, which sometimes is just barely enough for full-HD doc shoot days with the HVX, and usually not enough for long events without a lot of mid-shoot offloading. AVC-Intra 50 is intriguing in coaxing twice the recording time in an intraframe codec... with which I'd be golden on most long shooting days with the P2 space I currently own.

While they're both 4:2:0, and I recognize the virtues of Intra-frame vs. long GOP, what are the other qualities of this codec - how does it cut on your average editing station (either FCP or Premiere), how does it color grade, react to timing alterations, and perhaps biggest of all, how does it compare to AVCCAM from the 250's siblings?

I'm very curious about this. I heard that an ac160/130 in 1080 avchd would probably look better than avc-intra 50 from an hpx250. Anyone know how they stack up now that they've been out a few weeks? Avc intra 50 would help with long form jobs where intra 100 just eats up way too many cards on a multi hour event, especially if theres more than one camera shooting.

Haven't tried it, but my guess is that AVCHD is going to be very competitive with AVCI-50. AVCI-50 is lower recorded spatial resolution (1440 vs 1920) but higher bit depth (10-bit vs 8-bit). Both are 4:2:0. AVCHD has lower bandwidth, 24mbps vs. 50mbps, but it also has long-GoP as a tool to help make up some of that gap through higher efficiency.
