HPX250: AVC Intra 100 on a SanDisk 95MB/s or Sony S Series 168MB/s SD Card??

Won't work. The SD adapter only allows up to 50mbps. So you could maybe do AVCI-100 at 720/30pN or 720/24pN, but you can't do 1080.

The Panasonic P2 SD cards have a second row of contacts above the row that we are all familiar with. Seems like the extra signal path allows faster media recording, while the card is still compatible for playback within the old SD standard.

It’s too bad that Panasonic didn’t make the P2 to SD card adaptor so it could take advantage of the latest technology, if the Black Magic Pocket Camera can record Pro Res HQ on the ScanDisk 95MB/s card it seems the cards have the capability but the adaptor doesn’t.

I'm speculating the cheaper SD card found on Micro P2 is partially Pana's competive answer to Sony's 50 Mb/s 422 XDCAM codec that's more size efficient.

Unless the HPX-250 can simultaneously write to 2 media slots (which I think never will happen on anything less than $8K), I think it's very foolish to take such a gamble just to save couple hundred bucks. In other words, reliable media is something you can't be cheap on, especially important shoots. Pay the premium price for the Micro P2. It's worth the extra cost if you look and analyze at the whole big picture.
