AVC-I 50 over DVCPRO HD 720

Trying to get my head around AVC-I usage.

Now given my Editor EDIUS doesn't support 10bit - would I ever use the 50mbps flavour of intra over DVCPRO HD? (Also given it's 4:2:0) I can't see it would save any space.

Any other reasons to / not to?

(I can see the logic of full raster AVC-I 100 ).

It'll give you (at least) twice as much recording time. But that's the only reason I'd use it.

My numbers must be off as I thought it was the about the same at 720pn/25.

It is half the size of DVCPRO-HD. So DVCPRO-HD is a max of 100 megabits, AVCI-50 is a max of 50 megabits. 720/25pN DVCPRO-HD is 50 megabits, but 720/25pN AVCI-50 is 25 megabits.

But AVC-I50 doesn't look as good as DVCPRO-HD. It's nothing like AVCI-100.
