automatic audio

I sometimes film concerts. I use the front mic. i found out it has no automatic audio or internal peaklimiter. Is that normal for this kind of cameras. it would be very helpfull in this kind of harsh audio conditions. My audio sometimes is very nasty filming next to audio sources.
What can I do best in this situation?
Thanks

Its not a automatic gain control, its a level control to takes the peek. See the manual

Thanks thats right.
But still the audio is too loud, even when I put like -20db it is distorted. I think the microphone can not handle that kind of loud noise. Is there a microphone (external) I can use to put on.

If you're filming concerts and audio is important (which would make sense) I would never use the internal mics, in my opinion they just suck (I've never seen an internal mic that didn't).
Get an external mic or hook your camera up to the sound system in the venue you are filming in. If you're doing this for profit for the bands then I would look into getting some sort of DAT or MultiTrack recorder as well as an external mic on your camera, then you can sink the two in post.

What kind of concerts are you filiming?

I never use the internal microphone. If i use om camera mic i use a Sennheiser K6/ME64.

I'm making short items about singers. So the audio is less important because I use voice overs and interviews as main audio and the concert as background music.

Get an external mic for the camera would be your best bet then.

What are you using to record the voice overs and interviews? If you get a good shotgun mic you should be able to use it in a variety of settings and get good audio.

The Sennheiser K6/ME64 is a nice mic but a bit pricey. I picked up an NGR mic not to long ago for $130 and have been very happy with it.
