Autofocus tracking on a7s w/gimbal

I''m using a 50mm Zeiss Sonar 1.8 on my a7s, but I can't get it to keep focus on my subject properly. I'm using AF-C and Focus Settings are set to wide. The autofocus does the job but seems a bit...slow? Is there anyway to lock focus onto the subject?

the A7s & A7sII is lacking "phase detection" AF that the A7rII has. A7s series only has "contrast detection" AF that is not near as fast as PD. it is what it is and its luke warm at best.

If you want good AF on a Sony mirrorless camera, look for the a9, then the a6500 and a6300, then a7RII. The a7S II is waaay behind its brothers in this respect.
