I just finished building some DIY flos and went bulb shopping. I thought the best way to compare was to check a "real" daylight balanced flo against my home depot ones by white balancing with different bulbs to see what difference (if any) there was.
All seemed to be going fine until I decided (just for grins) to see how the bulbs looked using the AWB set to 56K (which I rarely use). The whiteboard looked green. This was discouraging, but then I tried the "real" bulb, and it was also greenish. So, I panned the camera out my window, and my white arbor also looked green.
Now, it's all good when I manually white balance, and I never noticed any problems on the occasions when I have been outside and relied on the 56K preset. But is it possible for the AWB setting to be off?
