auto-sleep?

i just received the dvx100a a few hours ago. the onyl thing i can't figure out yet is how to get rid of this "auto-sleep" function. if i'm not recording, the machine goes to sleep and powers the camera off (well, at least to th epoint where the buttons don't seem to respond). the only way i've been able to remedy this so far is to turn it off and back on again. Any ideas?

dammit, it should'v ebeen that easy...

anyways, i scrolled through the scene file menu, and i'm a bit confused. things like color temp, master ped and detail coring have obvious image manipulation influences as i can see, but some of the other ones like chroma phase/level, matrix, and v detail level, i don't see any change when changing the settings. What do they mean?
