hi , finally took the plunge and bought dvx100a pal in the uk
.
quick question,
how do I stop it turning itself off every few minutes if I am not recording?

does anyone recommend altering any presets on the camera to improve performance eg gain numbers, sharpness etc?

Re: auto shutoff

Go to menu and find "tape protect" and set it to "stand by". I am not sure where "tape protect" is but I think it's under "camera setup" or similar.

My advice - read the user's manual completely and carefully before you start using it. Trust me, it saves a LOT of time later...

Congrats and enjoy!!!!

Re: auto shutoff

No problems. I'll be online within the next hour or so. Shout if you need help. I know what it's like...

Re: auto shutoff

I printed the manual out from panasonic.com onto glossy heavy weight and put it in a binder for when Im out shooting; it beats flipping through that 'newsprint' quality rag they send you.
