I've got a DVX-100B [July 2006] i was trying to playback some of the footage that i had just shot and but the camera could not rewing the tape. When i pressed RW it do it for a 10 secs then the heads would slow down to a stop and i would get the Warning Message in RED:
AUTO OFF S_REEL LOCK
The cam is able to FF no problem. I used the recommended panasonic dv tape head cleaner it helped a bit but it did not solve the problem. Does anyone know what it means...

When you have an issue like this, chances are someone else has had it too, which is why its always a good idea to try the search function first when you're looking for an answer.

Here are a couple of threads that might help you:

From the second thread:
I figured out the problem. Perhaps this will help someone else some day:
The supply reel is one of the reels that turns the hubs on the tape, so a supply reel lock can be the result of a faulty tape, rather than a faulty camera. Try a different tape before you freak out. If that works, I'd say try the problem tape just once more to make sure that's actually the problem, because it may have been a fluke within the camera itself. So if all tapes are working, I'd say give the camera a cleaning and be cautious and hope for the best...

thankx luis,

i had tried the search but since i'm new to the site perhaps i did not
search well enought. I had tried it with a different tape and the problem
persisted. i'll take my cam for a cleaning she's long overdue.

Make sure you are using a good quality of tapes as well. I had Sony Premiums not work on me, and was convinced my camera was dead, but then I tried the steal tapes recommended by Panasonic, and they worked great.
