Auto Off - S Reel Lock

I need some help before going totaly crazy :)

My DVX has 74 hours on heads and just recently start showing AUTO OFF - S REEL LOCK only when in VCR mode.
After this, it switches automaticly back to Camera mode.
I do not have any problems in Camera mode and shooting seems normal in every aspect.
I cleaned the heads with Panasonic cleaning tape and tried playback with another tapes but the problem keeps coming back.
I only use Panasonic PQ Tapes and never switched the brand.
I can also hear a different/strange noise when inserting the tape in camera.
Not the noise I am used to.

Has anyone here experienced the similar problem?
Price for repair?

If anyone repaired their DVX for the same reason, could you maybe tell me the description of repair and approximate cost?

I guess everyone's in HVX or RED section so they don't bother helping us poor DVX users... :)
 
I've had it happen a couple of times to me. I was worried at first but would just turn the camera off and back on. I'd hit play and it'd usually work fine. I don't know why it did it or how to correctly fix it. But it has happened and that's what I did. Good luck and if you figure it out, please post.

I am experiencing the similar problem because it will work without any locks and then suddenly it will lock with the same exact tape!
What I'm trying to find out exactly is if this is the case for repair shop or not and what needs to be fixed.
But I'll post any usefull info as soon as figure it out.

I have a similar problem with my DVX100. AUTO OFF S-REEL LOCK. I was told that the entire mechanism in the tape feed would have to be replaced and because it costs an arm and a leg, I'm looking for other options.
 
They fixed mine but they didn't change the entire mechanism!
It cost me about 40EUR total and it works fine ever since (touch wood :)
Description of repair was "adjustments and fine tuning in tape transport mechanism"

You were told about the entire mechanism needed to be changed after they examin you DVX or?
