Auto Iris and other questions

New user here. Just got the 100a and have a few questions. Why do I lose auto iris control when I use auto white balance? In fact I get no iris control until I go to manual white or push auto white again which takes me back to a balance I do not want. And what is the purpose of the user settings? I seem unable to customize settings and save to these. Is there a good book outside the user manual (which is limited) that you guys recomment?

For you auto iris problem, I really don't know! I try it on my DVX and both can work at the same time. When you talk about Auto White Balance, do you mean Auto track white?

Yes I think it is auto white track. AWT. Just finally located where to get Barrys book and looks like a great resource. But when I do select the auto white track I do lose auto iris control.

I don't know what could be causing that. However, I'd recommend that you not use the auto tracking whitebalance feature of the camera unless you have no choice. It's not all that good. You'd be better off going with a manual WB or even using one of the presets.

Really, I'd suggest the same for iris control, but maybe that doesn't fit your needs.
