If you look at the list on the first message in this thread, you'll see that Studio Exchange is on our list of authorized dealers.

profeel authorized?

profeel authorized?

since august '04 when the list was first posted, has profeel become an authorized dealer?

i got mine from them and it came with magic bullet, the book, etc. i found the rebate form online and filled it out with all the info. their website advertises the rebate but i'm not seeing "authorized panasonic dealer" or something similar on the site.

and i apologize if theres already been a post about this.

Profeel is not authorized.

When a dealer is not authorized, they have to buy their cameras from wherever they can get them. Sometimes that means gray-market imports, but sometimes it means buying them under-the-table from an authorized dealer. If you got all the goodies in the box, then this means that you could very well have an authorized US unit (which means you'd also have warranty coverage). If the camera was originally sourced by Panasonic USA, then the warranty applies. You having gotten it through Profeel means you're actually the second owner (Profeel was the first) but if they didn't register it, then I presume that you registering it will work for warranty coverage.

thanks so much for the info.

i assume that qualifying for warrenty would also mean qualifying for the rebate. is it likely that i'll be naively spending the next couple months waiting for the 300 bucks, tapes, etc? And if so, i would assume that profeel has crossed some boundary by advertising the rebate on their site.

have other people gotten the rebates after ordering their camera from unauthorized dealers?

It's my understanding that you can register for the rebate online at Panasonic's site. If you have a gray-market camera, you will not be able to successfully complete the registration process. So you'd know pretty quick whether your camera's legit, and whether you'll receive the rebate.

grrr... i'm trying to order my 100A from EVS but no one is answering the phone right now (4:41 EST). After finally getting up the nerve to drop the money on it this is making me even more anxious.

ahh, good to hear. that's exactly what i did (registered for the rebate through panasonic's site), and the registration went through.

thanks for the assistance...very much appreciated.

Yup... sat in the dark over here for a while.... okay, so there was sunlight, but still - "light" doesn't seem like "light" anymore unless it originates in the glowing emissions radiated from my monitors. ;)

Yeah, we got a little stir crazy over here for 2 hrs., everyone hovering anxiously waiting for the power to come back so we can get back to our emails and orders... :)

if it would've been a gray unit
the rebate site rejects it immediately

I don't think ANY dealer would register a camera under their name for whatever porpuse and then sell it as new ????

I wouldn't think any dealer would purposely advertise false prices in a bait 'n' switch scam to get an unwitting customer on the phone and then gouge them $700 for a $30 wide-angle lens, either. I'm not saying I've heard of any instances of dealers registering for the rebate, but with the reputation of some of the more notorious Brooklyn scam shops, I wouldn't put it past 'em.

Not that Profeel is a scam shop -- I've never heard anything negative about them. I'm just saying that that would be the only reason why I could think that you wouldn't get the rebate, is all.

No LEGITIMATE business would do that, that's for sure!

Hi, I live in the UK and I'm having trouble finding a 'respected' site that sells a DVX100a. Can anyone here tell me of their experiences and recommend anywhere? Preferably over the internet, otherwise I live in the south which means a 2-hour trip to London.

Hello Dave,
I just wanted to mention that we ship to the UK, but we carry only NTSC models. :)
Rush.

I just got my DVX100A from EVS. Rush was fantastic! No headaches.

He gave me a prompt quote and put a camera on hold for me. With the dvxuser and discount for pay by cash, I was out the door with the camera for $3400. You can save more by doing a wire transfer.

Thanks Rush. I love my DVX and the no hassle transaction.

I was just on Berger Bros.com today and the price for the dvx is 3200 dollars.
are they an authorized reseller?
Also could EVS - match that price ?
