Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

I just got off the phone with B&H. They told me that the DVX100a that they sell DOES NOT include the MB software or DVX book/DVD.

Does anyone know any authorized dealers that sell the DVX100a with MB and DVX book/DVD besides EVS?

Thanks

All of the DVX100A's currently at Abel Cine Tech (LA / NY / online at abelcinestore.com) are shipping with MB & DVX Book/DVD.

Thanks!

Abel Cine is probably a good vendor to buy from but some of the accessory stuff you may want to buy form them is more expensive. For instance I saved quite alot on the Pelican case that I bought along with my DVX100a from EVS. Consider that before you buy.

just another quick plug for evslonline.com. I bought a mic and some audio equipment through Rush for a film I was planning for, I got a great price and it was shipped quickly. I recommend them to anyone.

To Barry Green:
I just bought your book on the DVX100 with the DVD from Amazon. Question: I bought my DVX a month ago from a guy in TX with 19 head Hrs on it, and he never registered it. He bought it from a dealer down there last October. Can I register it now and get warranty service on it? yes, I will check with Great Norhtern who is local to me in NH, but I thought you may have run into this before?

Hmmm. Don't know. Presumably the 1-year warranty is still active, whether he registered it or not. If it was bought in October 2004, the warranty should be good until October 2005 (but, now that I think of it, I don't know if the warranty is transferable or not).

Definitely call the dealer, I believe Great Northern is authorized so they should be current on Panasonic's policies and procedures.

I think the cheapest and safest place to buy, buydig.com (Beach Camera)
They have DVX100A for $3195 (FREE 3 DAY FEDEX SHIPPING) plus Barry's DVD book, and Magic Bullet in the box. (After rebate, it's $2895)
You'll get the 300 rebate, tapes, and a battery, meaning it is U.S product.
People are skeptical about buydig, but I have never seen anyone who did not get a rebate purchasing from buydig. I bought mine from them, and worked out perfectly.

However, EVS has the greatest services of all that are worth the time and money.
If I had some extra cash, I'd go for it.
But I saved around $300 off market price from buydig.
I'm still a student and $300 is a lot for me.

so has anybody gotten their rebates buying from buydig.com?

I bought one from willoughby's back in april they assured me four times that it was a US unit. and they sent me a Canadian camera, with the MB taped outside. canadian manual and warranty.
needless to say it didn't quilify for NO REBATE.
I sent it back they tried, and tried to get me to keep it, offering me $300 back into my account, tapes, etc.
but I said NO all the time.
after they finally "Authorized" the return and it took total about three weeks to get my credit back.

a real nightmare, that "authorized dealers" deal with gray market products

holy crap, willoughbys is an 'authorized dealer' and they sold you grey? yikes.
shouldnt they be 'stripped of their authorization' for doing such? i know ive read that its not illegal to sell grey, but damn, getting a canadian manual and warranty from a nyc store... c'mon willoughbys.

Does EVS charge tax for online orders? I've bought a number of products from buydig.com and have never had a problem with them before (even with rebates). But I just checked and they are not an authorized dealer.

They advertise everything that EVS offers but for $300 less (no shipping cost and no tax). Do all the other goodies (Barry's book and dvd, batteries, etc. come in the box or are they things you get later?)

I'm a student so every penny counts. Also, I read that EVS has great services for buyers. What kind of service is this (knowledge of the product, discounts, repairs, etc.?)

Any info. would be great.

thnx

malmsteen,

Did you call them to order, or place it online? Good to hear of your service.

Rasquachemedia,

Yeah, I am in the same boat. I'd go with buydig.com, but could you get proper warrenty through them? The warrenty is only good if you buy from an authorized dealer, right?

The dvxuser propaganda is strong, for I am ordering my cam this week.

The warranty is valid if the camera you buy is a genuine US unit, even if it was bought through buydig.

The thing about gray-market sellers is that you can never be sure you're getting an actual US-sourced unit. So buydig has apparently offered some genuine US units, and if you get one of those, you'll also have a US warranty. But buydig cannot guarantee their source of cameras, because they cannot buy them from Panasonic. If their current source "dries up", they'll have to get cameras from somewhere else -- which could mean non-US, imported cams. The only thing guaranteed about the gray marketer is that they cannot buy directly from Panasonic.

If you go with an authorized reseller, you are GUARANTEED to get a genuine, US-source, warrantied, rebate-able unit.

Good point, Barry. I think the low price of Buydig is not enough justification for my purchase. EVS has the camera, and Kata backpack I have been eyeing too. Thanks for your words.

rasquache, we only charge tax for items shipped to/picked up in California. And there is a form you can fill out that gets the tax down to 3% too :cheesy: Outside Cali = no tax!
