you turn the volume up with the two little dials on the left hand side, lower rear of the camera. You need to be very close to your subject when using the in-camera mic. Maybe its time to buy external mic?
 
well i was doing a forest scene, and my subjects were a little far away, because they were approaching the forest, haveing a convesating, maybe i do need an external
 
Yup yup... the onbaord mic really can't be used for anything serious. Pickup a shotgun and boom, or a good lav... or spend 10k on audio and hire an audio tech ;)
