Audio track is missing on several files..

Basically the problem is some files have no audio track, as if it was not recorded at all..

However in the file properties it looks as if it was recorded.

No idea how this could have happened, the rest of files shot the same day with same settings on the same camera are fine..

Is my DVX200 internal mic failing?..

Were you monitoring the audio during recording? If so, safe to assume it always sounded fine?

Actually I wasn't.. Had to move a lot between fighting areas and had to listen/talk to some people, so wearing headphones wasn't an option.

I'm trying to reproduce the issue now, have already recorded 2,5 hours and it seems ok. I will keep recording for now, but something tells me it might re-appear when you less expect it..

Another reminder to always monitor, or at least check very often, your audio. I've been watching this forum since it started and nobody else has ever reported an issue like this. Not to say there isn't some issue with the camera causing it....

Knocking the switch OR accidentally switching to a "dead" input is something I've done and it easily happens! Seems like the DVX's audio inputs need more deliberate setup and awareness of any camera I have messed with. I have to check and double check my audio set up and if I have to make a change in the field, well... I sweat a lot about getting it right. Were you messing with VFR at all? THAT kills the audio EVEN if set to a "conventional" frame rate. Also, some media players won't always play the audio... I think MS's media player on 4K files is real bad about dropping audio in a straight playback though it's present in my NLE's and when playing back through the camera. Same with any MOV type files played on a PC outside of a NLE. Something about Quicktime not being supported anymore. However, the audio was THERE, but the players couldn't pick it up. If you arn't getting audio AT ALL, I'd first suspect a setup problem rather than equipment failure. Seems like once something is "broke" it tends to stay that way with cameras. As a side note, I've actually gone to creating checklists for certain setups, audio inputs being one of them (especially when I use a LAV mic...)
