Audio sync F-3 to Ki pro mini

Well i thought everything went smooth with my first shoot, but it seems that the video lagged audio 2 frames consistantly. My editor was able to offset and make all good, but im wondering if anyone else has experienced this. We were shooting 29.97 HOWEVER i was taking the video A out of F-3 and audio was being fed directly into the KI, not thru the camera. I read somewhere that Paasonic cameras have a 1500ms delay in output on the sdi, and wondering if the F-3 has the same issue? My solution will be to use the xlr's on the Sony and have the KI read the audio thru the hdsdi signal, therefore everything comes from the same pipe and im hoping i won't run into this issue again.
Anybody else run into this?
Gracias

You already spotted the operator "issue." Its not a camera issue, you just set it up so it was bound to do it.

The audio and video signal is processed and recorded in the camera, then sent to the external recorder. It takes it a fraction of a second to do that. You were recording the audio and video out of synch.

It's easy to synch it up again if you're using an external preamp and mixer and you want to record audio directly to the external recorder, but as you noticed its easier to do it through the camera. This camera's preamp is pretty clean.

I prefer to record through the camera and have my boom mic with external preamp and mixer to record wild sound to a separate recorder, like an H4n. That way you have a back up sound channel because sound is important an different mics in different locations are better in different scenes. If one recording glitched I use the other sound track.

Dave,

Can the Ki put a delay on the incoming audio? I know that my PIX can do this but i have not fooled with the KI much. Are you trying to avoid using the cameras Preamps by going directly to the KI?

The Ki will not allow for a delay. Yup, my intention was to bypass the Sony preamp directly- figured the less passthru the better. I know better now...
When we (Rob and I) did our initial test, we just listened for noise- not sync. Even when we did playback on set, and during our dump, we missed the lag..
Oh well, we were able to offset and all is good!
Thanks!
