Audio solution needed for my T3i

Hey,

I'm new to this whole world, I'm a magician, not really a cinematographer, but I'm really liking it. First off I wanted to apologize for being such a noob as this questions probably been asked before :p

I have a canon T3i and am looking for the best audio solution for super high quality audio. I'm going to be making a youtube show in the style of a street magic show (think david blaine and criss angel) out on the streets with a lot of people around. You can search up some of david blaine's stuff on youtube to see the situations I would be in, the camera probably won't be super close and more than one person is needed to be heard. I was originally thinking of getting a lav of some sort for me, and like an NTG2 for the others and just blend the audio some how. Any suggestions? I will be on the streets, inside restaurants and doing interviews. I'm also wondering if I could record the audio separate from the video and sync it up (though I don't know how to do that) what equipment would I need to record the audio separately?

Thanks

Only way to get "Super high audio quality" is to NOT use the audio built into the camera and use a separate recorder, a good quality wireless for you, and a sound crew operating it all. if you ever see the BTS (Behind the scenes) of these shows there is a boom operator and a sound mixer in tow usually, there is NO getting around this if you want that quality of audio. there is a lot of work and people involved in making it look like there is very few people around.

good luck.

Okay so which wireless mic and sound recorder would you recommend? I'm thinking a wireless lav (one that has a fair distance connection) and like an NTG shotgun would be best.

Michael,

A new thread asking exactly what you are asking happens about once a week. Your best bet would be to read all the stickies, do a some searching, and then ask specific questions about what you want to do. Your original post is too broad, and your asking the board to teach you all about audio in a few paragraphs.

As others have said, to get super high quality audio, think team, skill, and a realistic budget fo equipment and personnel. You will want to record to something besides your dslr because they suck for audio. Yes, a wireless lav for you would likely be a good idea. Then think recorder, mixer, shotgun, pole, shock mount, wind protection, headphones, audio bag, and cables. A interview mic might be another option if you dont mind the mic in frame an entry level budget for this type of kit is about $2500. At that level, you can make some very decent audio. Much less, and you might have to knock this super off the recorded audio.
