Audio slowed down - 2 sequences, exact same settings...?

This has happened a few times today with a project involving DV footage. I recorded footage a few years ago probably in a clamshell, I'm not sure the exact format but it is DV (on a Mini-DV tape). I'm using my HV20 to import it into my MBP using FCP6.

Something must be wrong with the source audio. After importing the clips the audio needs to be rendered before you can hear it. It then works fine.

But if I create a new sequence, even with the exact same settings, and paste anything from my first sequence into it the audio is slowed down. But the clips still have the same length????? There is no red bar or need to render. It's just slow?!

I can't find any additional setting that would explain this. Of course if I drag the original clips from my bin in the new sequence I get the red bar and have to rerender.

In Quicktime all clips work fine and inspector says:
"DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
DV, Stereo, 48.000 kHz"

29.97 FPS

My timeline is EXACTLY that.

I just waited the 15 minutes to render the audio in my new sequence and it's STILL slowed down!! But the red bar is gone. So now I have two sequences with the exact same settings and the exact same clips and the exact same length but one has the audio really slowed down!?!?!

I used a stop watch and it looks like maybe the entire clip (including video) is slowed down.. But the timeline has the same numbers for duration etc.

So somehow the sequence changes it's timing without effecting duration....?.....!

Being a novice, i would say try to recapture. If that doesn't work, continue searching for advice.
