AUDIO setting for interwiew in room close to traffic noise

hello
first of all sorry for the bad english....

i shoot my first interwiew with dvx100b with shutgun mic
the shoot record a lot of noise coming from the street, despite
the camera was close to the people...
is there any way to reduce that noise trough camera audio setting?
or is the only one to put the shoot gun mic with a long cable, down in the floor and close to the people speaking?

a second issue: what to do to prevent some bad eco of the speaking people because the room is quite big and empty

I think you were not supposed to use a shotgun mic for this interview. Try a hypercardioid mic or a lav instead.

well i m pretty sure i got a shootgun mic, (i got this one with a used dvx from a pro videomaker but don't know the brand of the shootgun; probably i miss the right setting
for example: i leave both channel working, the internal mic and the shootgun
do i have to close the int mic and just use the shootgun mic?).

If your using both of the mic, incam and shotgun. I suggest that you try to use the shotgun. In your settings, you can get your shotgun to be on the right and left channel.
If you use the incam mic, it's normal you get much more of the traffic, it's a kind of of mic that takes the surroundings. Easier to get the room's echo and the traffic while you do the interview. Before you continue, I suggest that you do some test with the settings of the mic.
