Audio - Sennheiser ME66 K6

I'm using a sennheiser ME66 k6 combo on my DVX100B. I'm getting a hum noise from the Sennheiser. I try different XLR, battery, and built in phantom. Hum is still there. I also connect the mic to PC and sound board. It still picks up hum.

Anyone have any issues with sennheiser ME66 k6? Is this normal?

Does it happen straight away when you plug it in and turn on the DVX?
Or is it something that appears after a short space of time?

It happens as soon as I turn it on. The hum is always there. As I walk around, the strength of the hum increase and decrease depending on where I am at in the house.

There is a screw on the K6. I notice if I touch it with a finger, the hum goes away. Release my finger, the hum comes back.

I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Last question.

Does it happen when the camera is only on battery, or also plugged in?
There is a hum regardless if camera is on battery or plugged in. There is a hum regardless if the mic was powered by battery phantom or the camera phantom.

This mic suppose to be solid. I just wasn't sure if the humming is unique to me or is it a common problem.

I have the mic. It's certainly not common. Sounds like it's not grounded. As evidenced by you grounding it and the hum going away. Perhaps an internal grounding screw has come loose.

That's why I asked you all the power questions.

yeah, I suspect something is wrong with the internal ground too. Thanks.

yeah man. the grounding screw was loose. the screw is actually the external one you see at the end of the tip. I just tighten up that screw, and wallah...the hum went away. I loosen it and the hum comes back. so the loose screw was the problem. thanks man.
