must have skipped over that thread. You guys using a 3.5 to xlr, or separate device all together? If you're using an adapter, how does it sound?
 
The cheap yet really good setup is the Rode NTG-2 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/367747-REG/Rode_NTG_2_NTG_2_Battery_or_Phantom.html
with a sm3 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/398316-REG/Rode_SM3_SM3_On_Camera_Shockmount.html to connect it to the hot shoe and keep handling noise at a minimum and having minimal visual intrusion. also get a XLR to 3.5mm mini cord http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...ensive_XLRJ_MPS_3ST_EXF_Stereo_Mini_Male.html and that should work.
