Audio recording Lag

Howdy all-

So Far I've mostly recorded in 720 60p.
Each clip plays back with a delay in the sound kicking in of about a second. This occurs during playback on the camera, and on the computer whether in FCP prores or directly into iMovie.

The sound sync is fine, there is just no sound at all for just shy of the first second of each clip.

Anyone else getting this delay in Audio recording? Or has this aleady been documented and discussed to death? I've not found any mention yet.

Thanks!

Steve

It also terminates the audio prematurely. Make sure you always record for longer than you think you'll need, because it appears to chop off the last second or two before you press the "stop" button.

I find that if I count one to ten at approx one number per second, and I press start on "one" and end on "ten", neither "one" nor "ten" can be heard, but the video and audio end together right after "nine" - and the video starts just before the audio, by about half a count.

On my SD5 you can set it to pre-record by two seconds, which can be handy to grab the unexpected without eating into the card (so long as your shot is framed already of course!), though you are likely to catch the sound of the button being pushed too. Could be handy to have that on the GH1 too by way of firmware, especially as there's no in-camera editing.
