Audio Question

I know this is audio related but I didn't get any resposes so I posted it here. I just purchased an Azden SGM -2X and I know its not the best mic in the world nut for a tight budget I was looking for something with multi uses. My questions are what settings do you guys recommend and I can't figure out why it still works like a stereo mic, I don't think it is but both levels can be adjusted, is this working like a two channel mixer?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Re: Audio Question

Ok -- it's an XLR shotgun mic... you've got it plugged into Line 1 or line 2? What are your settings when you open up the LCD window?

Here's what you can do... Plug it into Line input 1 xlr thingie on the camera. Open up the LCD window and set CH 1 Select to INPUT 1... CH 2 Select to ITR(R)... INPUT 1 ON (phantom power - don't use the batteries)... INPUT 2 OFF.

Then, adjust the volume for the shotgun on CH1 and the backup mic will be the built-in on channel 2. Gets goofy if you are monitoring w/headphones, but it will work.

Now -- here's what I think you did... You plugged it into line 2 and then set your channel selects both to INPUT 2. That will give you a "stereo" not really, but both channels will record the same mono feed.

Sound right?
