Audio Question for Avid

Hey, I'm relatively new to avid and learning its functions. I have decent audio with my footage, but my wireless mike tends to hiss when my actors speak loudly. How can I clean this up in Avid, or do I need a seperate application?

Re: Audio Question for Avid

try playing with the audio tools it has tools you can use to fix and manipulate the audio. im new to avid also but i had audio that was to hot and i was able to bring it down with the audio tools.

Re: Audio Question for Avid

The easiest way to fix it is just to adjust and calibrate the mic before you record

Re: Audio Question for Avid

speaking of audio do you guys know if the axp hd can have a audio mixer connected to it like the studio or do i have to buy the studio to have that mixer capability.

Re: Audio Question for Avid

you can (and porobably) should use a mixer with it.
You can set the right level and eg that hiss out before digitizing it.
Saves alot of time.
this is what I have:
http://mackie.com/products/1604vlzpro/index.html
You can order it online but I have found you can haggle enough with your local Guitar Center that ya don't need to.

Re: Audio Question for Avid

i was looking at the makies on b and h website some of them had firewire capabilties and of course xlr. which one should i go with would it be easer to use firewire or how else do connect it the mixer the mojo and the cam that plays my tapes.

Re: Audio Question for Avid

I like analog IOs. I havn't looked close at a mojo... does it have XLR in and outputs for audio?
Even if it doesn't, you can use XLR to RCA adapters. You can then hook up everything to the mixer and not have to mess with cables again.

Re: Audio Question for Avid

the mojo has rca so all i have to do is use xlr to rca adapters and connect the audio to the audio i/o of the mojo wow cool it sounds simple but that will work for me thanks.

Re: Audio Question for Avid

otta work fine if you don't have many different sources.
good find, man.

Re: Audio Question for Avid

so what do you plug the mixer in on your pc if you don't have a mojo? sound card?

Re: Audio Question for Avid

i think you can use fire cuz when i was shopping around i saw alot of mixers that came with a firewire card and if not that i guess a soundcard.
