Audio out of Sync

I converted an MTS file with Toast 10. The MTS file recorded as 1920x1080, 24P 48 Hz.

I converted to ProRes422HQ with these settings 1920x1080, current FPS, 48 Hz.

I notice that the beginning MTS and the end product MOV file audio is out of sync slightly but noticeable.

Anyone know what this happens?

1sg, you said that you shot the video at 24p and then converted it to prores at current fps. what is the current fps, if it is anything different then the 24p then your audio will go out of sync. I think, unless someone here that knows more on this could shine in. when you change the frames per second that the video is played back at, then if audio is integrated in the video the audio will either sound sped up or slowed down. if audio is a separate file like in dvcpro then the audio will go out of sync as its played back with the video.

hope that helps.

Nah not kickin dirt, I am sympathetic to your problems. I can't image having to have workarounds, this would frustrate the living shytes out of me!

I don't meant to continue the debate but I am bitter at both PC and Mac...
Nothing is reliable these days.

I don't even use Toast anymore but is disappointing they have not come out with a fix yet. And Mad your right I used think Macs were unstoppable, now one crashed G5 later,,,,, not so much.

FYI, I log & transfered a long 720/24p clip from my HMC150 to Final Cut Express. It dropped about 24 frames every 20 seconds so that the audio slipped more and more the further into the clip you got. Not surprising--since Express does not support 24p or the HMC150, but still a good thing to know in case you're editing on FCE instead of Pro.
