Hi!

Im a long time reader of this forum, and a few months ago I finally got my HVX200E. I recently got myself a decent "field work" mic RODE NTG-2. I have It plugged in to Channel 1 on my camera and listening through my headphones. But all the audio is sounding on the left speaker only. Think that the internal mic records the right side. There is probably a setting to fix this, but I can't find It. And I do not know If this make any difference when you mix It in post. But It would be nice to hear the dialouge nice and clear on both ears when Im out in the field and use the NTG-2 as "main mic".
I would appreciate all the help I can get.

make sure both channels are set on the rode. you have it in input one. so input one needs to be the setting for channels 1 and 2.

Since the NTG is a mono mic (which is normal), it only produces one channel of information. Follow djtacoman's advice above and switch the second mic input to channel 2, and you'll have it there as well (the switches are inside the LCD screen cavity).

This also gives you an opportunity to hedge your bet on the audio level by recording one channel at what seems like a good level and the other a bit more conservatively. If the first channel overloads, the second is your safety net.

The internal mics always record to channels 3 and 4, in stereo (such as it is from a point-source mic like that).

you'll notice that you have to connect the mike to Channel 2, and select Ch 2 on both input 1 and input 2. also note that 4 channel audio is only available when recording to P2, not to tape.
