Audio Monitoring

Hi All,

I have a quick question. Is there anyway to monitor the audio levels visually on the LCD of the 5D Mk3? I have looked around for an answer but have had no luck, and I am pretty sure I have seen 'instructional' video's where I could see the 5D Mk3's LCD and it and showing levels?

Thanks for any help...

Press the "Q" button for the quick settings. Although I do not know of a way to keep them there. I wish there was a way to keep the quick menu up but it always goes away after ten seconds.

I always run my audio in the manual mode, so when I saw your post, I thought it was odd that you couldn't see your audio meters. If you run the audio in auto, the only way I know to see the meters is with Magic Lantern, but if you run the audio in manual you will see the meters in 3 of the 5 display modes. The Q button will let you adjust the audio levels, even when you are recording. Another benefit of running manual audio is that the AGC will not crank up low level volumes, which is very bad if you are shooting with an IS lens.

Yep, the mark3 can show levels by default in manual audio. Just cycle through the various LCD displays using the Q button. You can even change the audio levels live while recording by selecting the levels and using the touch control dial.
