Audio Input Sensitivity

I was wondering if anyone else was noticing this: When setting the levels on the HVX (same issue exists with 2 different cameras) I find it strange that the dials are having to be set very low for either lav or shotgun mics. (like between 2 - 3.5). (I have the internal menu set at -50db)

The audio is fine on playback and reads correctly on the meters in the LCD. I guess what bothers me is that on all other cameras I've worked with (from the DVX to CineAltas') the levels are usually set between 5 - 7 on the dial. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks.

I have the sennheiser 416 and the signal is also very hot on the hvx. I aslo find myself using very low levels, where as the internal needs more juice

Does it make a difference if you use the mic/line setting on the inputs? Do wireless receivers output a line-level signal.

No.

If I switch it to line then the mics don't work, it needs to be set to mic.
