Audio Help Please

Hi Guys... I have tried and tried but really need some help. I have an HPX 370.... record to both Fire stores and P2. Heres the deal:

1. When I record our short clips usually 2 mic s - 2 talent... All audio is good when imported to NLE. It records 4 channels of audio... 2 for each mic, and I almost always have to strip 1 channel from each mic to get rid of background noise. one channel is always crisp and clear and the other is ambient from each mic.

2. Ive messed with setting to the point that I cant keep track anymore.

Heres the goal..... We start shooting live very soon and we need that ambient track to not be recorded or I need the camera to ignore it as we go out SDI.

Does this camera have the ability to do this on board?

Can the front XLR record simultaneously with both rears for 3 Mic inputs.

Im just lost at this point and really could use the guidance.

Thanks Guys....

If you are shooting HD then the camera will record 4 channel audio, automatically. You should eb able to set your NLE to ignore whatever tracks you don't want to include.

Yes the front can record at the same time as the rears and get 3 channel. If you have a slot in wireless, you can get 4 distinct channels.

For your needs, set ch1 & 2 to whatever input you are using for your talent. if you set 3 & 4 to W.L. (wireless) but don't have the slot in then it will record be a recording of nothing, and you should get what you need. You should
not have any ambient at all.

As Joel says and just to add I have done the small modification to mine and have wired the wireless D-type connector to a sennheiser G2 3.5mm flying lead, I then can have ch 1+2 as talent on a radio mic with cam mic on 3+4 or if I am really wanting more talent on ch1, cam mic on ch2 and a stereo mic or the output of a stereo mixer on 3+4.

The switching matrix on this camera is superb and very flexible with many more options available with the above set-up.
