audio, ghosts and hpx170... oh my! I need some light shed on this...

Okay, I wanted to ask here since I figured someone here might be able to help me eliminate reasons or pinpoint something.

Some background: I'm shooting a paranormal series. Without revealing too much, I was interviewing an author on location while the investigative team was a good 10 feet away with their meters and gear and had contact with a 'being'. They would ask it questions and watch their meters spike. I had no idea they were doing this as we had recently started. Now this was my first project of this kind and I'm by nature a very skeptical person.

During the interview I asked a question and was monitoring the audio through the left channel of my headphones coming in from the shotgun suspended right above her on a boom pole. This was actually on a c-stand and powered by a brand new AA battery. I notice static coming through my headphones. It slowly faded in, and for about 5 seconds washed out all my audio and then slowly faded out. I let the person finish their answer (another 30 seconds to a minute of talking) and had normal audio. I then cut to let her know what had happened and ran off to tell the investigators and get a cam on them. They told me they had asked the spirit to make it's presence known and at the moment my audio washed out, their meters went nuts.

I continued the interview after and asked the person to repeat that story once again. Playing back the footage I noticed the static segment of the interview was gone! Both on the P2 card and on the drive it was dumped onto. Now I know I didn't stop recording until she finished that question. That clip actually cuts at a really weird spot and I know I wouldn't and didn't cut at such an awkward time. Apparently nothing was recorded during the incident. So I wanted to do some research. I want to see if anyone has an idea what might be a reason something like this can happen. I mean there's the obvious answer but something electromagnetic must have caused so much interference that the camera and audio went out but resumed normal operation right after. Can electrical spikes or something cause this to happen? No one moved the entire time, it was a brand new xlr cable which had worked flawlessly all day, properly seated, no grounding issues as we were running off batteries and nothing more. It's worth noting a few moments after the completion of the interview, my full Panasonic stock battery dipped to half power and then shut off. When I restarted it, the battery was at 1/4 and then died and shut off again. I switched bricks while charging that Panasonic brick and it's been normal ever since. I'd like to hear some scientific explanations thrown out here just so I could come up with a substantial reason as to how or if this is possible. I also don't mean for this to turn into a crazy thread. I had something unexplainable happen and would like to actually have a reason for thinking what I think and not just attribute it to the supernatural without actually looking into it. Thanks for reading me ramble!

Creepy. I had a similar situation.. kind off. I was shooting an open-casket funeral(never again!) Family members were speaking with this guy in the room. Filming filmin filming.. with my sonydsr250. Suddenly audio starts tweaking out, the cam's eating the tape. I load another, start filming, eats another tape, repeat, eat, repeat, eat, finally my last blank tape works and I finish the shoot. I can only think maybe the guy didn't like the woman who was speaking or something and didnt want anyone to remember her on his video. That day forward I really had a weird feeling that still kind off sticks with me.. Like I was merely a vessel, serving some purpose existentially, in balance with the universe. Later that day I had to film a bar mitzfah... The end of one guys life in the morning and the beginning of another in the afternoon. One things for sure I'd rather do a funeral again than ever do another bar mitzfah.
