Audio from Vegas 8 in Sound Forge

I'm throwing together a test clip with some quick footage shot with the 150, and I had no problems dropping the mts files onto the Vegas 8c timeline. It stutters a bit more than usual, but maybe that'll be addressed later.

The issue is with audio. Normally with DV I would right click the audio in Vegas and 'open copy in Sound Forge'. They worked seamlessly together. Now, when I try to edit audio with SF, I get an error -- "necessary function has not been implemented".

Is there a way around this? Ideas? How do you guys edit your audio in Vegas with the 150?

Sound Forge probably doesn't support AVCHD and the sound has to be demuxed. I'd just export a WAV.

But personally, I've never once had a reason to go into Sound Forge. Vegas does just about everything.

Thanks, David. I'd always exported to SF thinking it was better because it's 'dedicated' to audio, but you're right -- I played around with Vegas' audio Track FX with good results.

This just started happening to me... When you are previewing a clip does it chop it all up and somtimes include frames from other clips?!? this is driving me nutz.

Wisted,

I haven't had any problems with edit copy in SoundForge. I never do a direct edit (I like to preserve the original recordings). The one problem I had was my default in SF was 44.1 and the audio in the video was 48K so sync issues until I fixed this.

Hi Phil,

My workflow is the same as yours, so when I switched to AVCHD video I had the same problem. As David suggested, a simple fix is to export the audio as a WAV file and then drop it back into Vegas to replace the original audio.

I always do my audio work in Sound Forge, as I find the interface easier to use for what i do. ( noise-reduction, paragraphic eq, adjust volume levels, wave hammer )
