Audio Error with FS100 HELP!

I am completly lost on this one.

error i recieve

Audio::PMM_insufficient_Media()
player version of duration is longer than actual
[1667266] (1547916)

I recieve this error on random clips. I am using Xpress pro HD 5.2.4, hvx200p, fs100 (w/o v3 firmware). Error occurs on both 1080 and 720 doesnt mater which one.

I have not had any errors like this except when shooting HD on the fs. Strangley it does not effect every shot on the drive only random shots. I cant figure this one out. Any help would be appreciated, on how to resolve this.

I have tried asking avid, but they wont respond to my messages. Focus says its on avids side. I have searched for this error but come up with nothing.

Thanks!

I've encountered this issue too. Apparently, this has been an issue that has plagued other versions of the Firestore (ie. FS-4) and previous version of the FS-100 firmware. I think what's happening is that the audio files being recorded are actually a little shorter than they should be. Other editors don't really have a problem dealing with the files, but Avid does. If you mark one frame in from the tail of the clip, you can edit the clip into a sequence, and it will play fine. Annoying as hell, but from what I was told in my brief communication with Focus, they're working on a new version of the firmware to address this issue. In the meantime, you might want to explore backing out to the previous firmware revision--I thought it was only affecting clips in the P2 PN mode, but you're saying it happens with 1080 footage too... curious...

Thanks, i will try to trim off the tail end and see where it leaves me. I only have the problem when shooting HD. Any idea if this new update from focu fixes the problem?

It's supposed to. I received an email from Focus tech support saying that they were aware of the issue, and were working with Avid to find a solution. I hope it comes soon...

Good to know. I actually found a way to cheat it, based on what you said. Basically i disregard the error, drag the footage to the timeline and use the "add edit" tool and creat an edit in the middle of the clip. which allows me to edit from the timeline. i dont know how sinc is since the footage is voice over. Ill find out today if there is a sync issue or not.

thanks.

Im dealing with focus on it right now. they have only had a hand full of complaints like this one, so they said it wasnt a priority, but are going to try and solve it. ill post any updates.

Letter Boxed: depending on how many files you have to process by adding edits or trimming heads/tails, there is a another way to take care of those clips.

1) Go to "Script" view in your bin that contains your clips. Select all the clips (Ctrl + A or whatever method you choose).

2) Press "T" to mark ins and outs for the full duration of all the clips (you should see the "Mark In" and "Mark Out" fields update).

3) Press "Q" to jump to the in points of all the clips.

4) Press "4" to step forward one frame.

5) Press "E" to mark a new in point on all the clips.

6) Press "W" to jump to the out points of all the clips.

7) Press "3" to step back one frame.

8) Press "R" to mark a new out point on all the clips.

9) Use the Consolidate function to create new, trimmed clips. You don't lose any image quality, and you won't have to deal with that annoying error any more.

Also, it's bullcrap that this error isn't a priority with Focus. It wasn't a problem before the latest firmware release. There's other folks having the same issue here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=87235

Have fun...

I have the same issue with the fs100pro and Avid 5.2.4 HD, especially
with long uninterrupted recording. I found that the simplest solution for
me was to select the audio tracks with this problem and do an audio mixdown(stereo), then just drag the new tracks on top of the old ones to maintain sync. It always played fine after that.
